Hi All,
I'm due to start Chemo on the 8th Nov with docetaxel (6 cycles x 3 weeks) - I wanted to ask, has anybody had any experience of suffering neuropathy or numbness during treatment?
I have nerve damage/neuropathy in my legs from the Covid vaccine and am a little concerned about how this is going to be impacted by docetaxel.
Does anybody have any experience of this - are there any telltale signs when this starts to happen, or is it completely obvious?
Thanks for your help.
KTC
Hi KTC.
Husband developed neuropathy in the legs and feet three days into the first cycle which lasted for several days. Medical team gave more supportive drugs with chemotherapy for second and subsequent cycles which reduced neuropathy to three days. This manifested itself as stumbling when walking and difficulty in doing up shirt buttons. He said it felt like numbness and weakness. I understand that it could also manifest as tingling or pins and needles. After the 6 cycles the neuropathy has disappeared. I would make sure that the professionals are aware that you have this side effect from the COVID vaccine. Hopefully the chemotherapy will not exacerbate your neuropathy.
