Treatment Options?

Good morning. I have recently been diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer, T3a N0 M0, Gleason (4+4) 8, CPG 4.

I’ve seen my consultant to discuss treatment options, and after lots of research decided on the HT/RT route, rightly or wrongly but felt on the weight of evidence this was best for me.

What I hadn’t considered was an option that was discussed was being considered for systemic therapy (chemo) in addition to the HT/RT. I think this may be a stage 2 clinical trial from doing some research. I’ve agreed to exploring this further.

My question is does anyone have any experience of this treatment approach and how it went.

Lastly, this community has helped me hugely in my relatively short journey so far, reading the personal journeys in particular have helped in reaching my decisions so far, so thank you.

  • Hello Neville - Welcome to the club you didn't want to join!

I notice you have been around reading the various posts so you are fully up to speed with PC and have already made a choice of your treatment journey.  Your diagnosis apart from the Gleason score is just the same as mine.

In answer to your question regarding Chemo - I haven't seen any posters on this forum who have gone down that avenue - but I have been wrong in the past! I am sure if anyone has - they will be in contact. If you do go down this clinical trial route, please keep us posted.

You did say you have been reading personal journeys - mine is available if you haven't already read it by clicking on the icon of the beach. I did have a couple of issues on the way!

As usual, feel free to join in any conversations and post any questions.

Best wishes on your personal journey.

    Brian

  • Thank you Brian, I will certainly keep everyone updated if I go down that route. Yes, I’ve read yours and others, which has really helped in my decision making process.
