Starting radiation therapy next week 20 days can you advise what to expect across the treatment.
Hi Hank
RT is a doddle, so long as you do as you are told! Follow, to the letter, the dietary advice they give you - Poole gave out a diet sheet. In brief, low fibre everything, no caffeine or alcohol. The reasoning is the RT can irritate the bowl, so the recommended diet reduces any additional irritations.
Most of my group used the micro enema, and drank their water, at the hospital - avoiding any accidents on the journey in. So, if you decide to go down this route you will need get there earlier.
You don't say if you are also on HT, but if you are, the RT will add to the fatigue caused by the HT. The effect tails off quite quickly after the end of your sessions.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Regards
Stuart
Just what Stuart has said. I would just add that it's quite undignified but the staff have seen it all so try not to let it affect you. Lastly make sure you tell the staff of any pain or discomfort you have as they will deal with it straight away. It's your first (and last) time but they have lots of experience.
I hope it all goes smoothly.
Hi Seanus
I had 4 samples taken - should have been 3 but the operator decided to take 'one more for luck' I could have killed her! The F word was used a lot!

Hi Stuart.
Wimp! I had 12 samples taken in the biopsy and was diagnosed as Gleason 9. It wasn't the most pleasant experience I've ever had!
Hi Seamus
Harsh!
I was Gleason 9 too but consultant only wanted 3 samples. I maintain the anesthetic hadn't been given enough time to work!
