  • We saw the doctor today and confirmed to him that hubbie wants to go ahead with chemo. This will start in 2-3 weeks and take us up until just before Xmas. I can honestly say that after the appointment I feel the happiest I have felt since the GP rang to give us the PSA result which was 59.9. today it had dropped to 42. Seems strange to say this but I feel so much better knowing we have a plan and that treatment will soon start. I know we have a rocky road ahead with all the possible side effects but we will get through this. In addition to chemo he will have chemo tablets called darilutamide. I forgot to ask how long he might be on these, is it just whilst he is on chemo does anyone know. Once again a million thanks to you all for your patience, advise and understanding you are all amazing. Today is the first day I have smiled in ages and long may it continue. Xx
  • YO!!   HAPPY DAYS that's brilliant - you know just where you are going and it's planned. You will be able to put your fears behind you and make plans for the future.

Darilutamide as far as I am aware is a stronger version of the HT treatment given alongside the Chemo in the triplet therapy. I think you stay on these throughout the treatment.

Yes the chemo is on it's way but you are now stronger in the knowledge that treatment is on it's way and you are both ready to fight the side effects - good luck.

Keep smiling and of course posting your progress.

    Best Wishes

  • I am going to give this cancer a good kick up the bum and tell it to B****r off. we are both bigger and stronger than it is .

  • So glad you have a plan lovely- non of us want to be here but a clear plan helps. Sounds like you are getting the best evidence based treatment with triple therapy. My OH coming to last chemo next week and if it helps he has had cold cap to stop hair loss & so far so good. The unit will give you lots of advice. OH had chemo taste which affected his taste buds first & 2 week after treatment so maybe think about what he finds tasty but you’ll be grand- you’ll both be grand.
let’s hope all goes well for you both. Remember we are here for you. Xx

  • Best attitude to have, glad things are moving forward, wishing you both well
