I am currently looking for travel insurance and I am not sure what to tick for one of the questions. It asks are you taking chemo tablets, having chemo injected into a vein, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, any other treatment. The only treatment husband is currently on is 3 monthly hormone injections so do I tick any other treatment or does it come under immunotherapy. Thank you

  • Hi Shar

There are a couple of threads on here under "Travel Insurance" but I am sure as you fill out the online forms for PC once you get to the end - it will say "ring us for a quote".

All the travel insurance Companies use the same algorithm to work out the quote so you will get the same result with most online forms.

If it helps we use a  company called "All Clear" but Mrs Millibob has her own issues! (medical I would add).

    Good luck with that one.

    Beat wishes

    Brian.

  • Hi Brian. It is all clear that I am looking at they seem very good reading the reviews and they will cover us. We are currently with Liverpool Victoria and they won't offer cover. Thank you for your help

  • Hello Shar, our bank insurance would not cover the prostate cancer while my husband was on ht and awaiting rt. once he had had the rt they immediately covered us! What was puzzling was that the medical advice was that we could travel in the period leading up to RT and after starting Ht but that we should wait 6-8 weeks after RT before travelling abroad. I tried other companies but they would not cover us at reasonable cost until the RT had been completed. We were told the ‘big risk’ was my husband going into urinary retention. In the end, we stayed out in the Uk. The cost of the insurance with cover was more than the cost of the holiday.

  • We got insurance with Avanti ( husband has PC + other conditions). Not cheap though!

  • Hi Shar,

We’ve recently got cover for a relatively cheap price for my husband who’s on hormone treatment but will have radiotherapy after the holiday via insurancewith.com I decided it was easier just to call them and answer the many questions over the phone rather than risk clicking the wrong box and ending up with a ‘computer says no’ answer at the end of the process. Lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful too.

    Good luck. X

    • I’d say no to those options. My bank has TI within my account, when telling them, they wanted to know that treatment was complete and they said Hormone therapy was not considered treatment. They asked if I was on HT. There were many questions around RT, was it completed, when was it, any more coming

it was only £119 addition to the policy fee I pay monthly for lots of things. Elsewhere was around £1000. Im with NatWest.
