Side effects and work.
Hi, I have stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer and am about to start chemotherapy, 6 cycles, 3 weeks apart.
I know everyone is different, but could anyone give me some idea as to how they feel after each cycle and for how long.
Am I being unrealistic to think about going to work?. I am an hgv driver.
Thanks, Tony T.
HiTony T
I like many on here have been through chemotherapy, six sessions, the thing about it is your blood cells get low and you can catch things easily, not that it will happen to you, you’ve probably read all about the side effects, in my case loss of hair, ( you can get a cold cap which helps ) fatigue and tiredness, plus hot flushes, which can be a devil, there are others but these are the main ones.
Usually, the second/ third day is when it hits you, as some will tell you its fairly harsh, as you said we’re all different, but some of these I’ve mentioned will apply.
I do stress one thing, take your temperature morning and night, it’s very important.
Stay safe
Joe
Hi Tony I have been writing about my experience which might be helpful to you? It is in this forum and should be on the front page at the moment. I haven’t had the best time with side effects, fatigue, pain and various other bits and bobs but many fly through this type of chemo with no problem. I think some people work but others not, I couldn’t work with the levels of pain and fatigue I had.
