Seeking a second opinion

Hello Everyone,

I’ve just had an MRI and biopsy, which found Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Active surveillance has been recommended.

Id like to get a second opinion on the diagnosis and on the best way forward.

How do I identify a leading specialist in London?

All suggestions appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hi  AJ

Do u have any more stats IE PSA, tumour size and location.

Second opinions a good idea , possibly not needed if stats really low. Obviously Gleeson 6 is low.

There are some good private hospitals in London , I went to Spire in Bushey twice for other opinions.

    Regards

    Steve

  • Hello AJ

I can't answer your question about where  to go for a second opinion but I would agree that it's a good idea.

Gleason score of 6 - All of the cancer cells found in the biopsy look likely to grow very slowly, if at all. Thea's the official diagnosis.

My biopsy was a Gleason 7 but on having a TURP and having my "chips" tested I had become a Gleason 9!

Thankfully all is good now, but good luck on your journey.

    Kind Regards - Brian.
