Hi, I'm new to group. My husband seems so much more positive about his diagnosis than me. It occupies my thoughts all the time. Any help would be appreciated x
Hi Susielou
Welcome to the club none of us wanted to join. My husband is exactly the same which I have found helps me as I had been worrying for both of us till I came onto this forum and got some really good advice.
You can read my husband’s info on my profile. Basically he has localised prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 7(3+4). He has an appointment for a bone scan at the end of the month. He is not suitable for surgery so is having Hormone Therapy Prostap3 to start immediately after the bone scan. This will be followed by Radiotherapy in 6 months time.
I have actually found it easier now that he has a diagnosis and treatment plan. If you maybe let others know a little bit about your concerns there will be people on the forum who will be able to advise you.
Best wishes to both of you Take care
Robina
Hi, husbands cancer has spread to bones. Receiving hormone treatment every 3 months, has had one so far. Biopsy last week so still awaiting his gleason score. My dad had prostate cancer 25 years ago which I think may fuel my anxiety about my husband cancer

Hi Susielou, sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. My husband was diagnosed in September and has today completed day 6 of radiotherapy. I appreciate your anxieties as my husband's father and grandfather died of prostate cancer. The thing to remember is that medicine has moved on tremendously in the last 20 + years and the drugs, treatment and medical knowledge that are available now are far superior. Also, there is a lot of research activity and so the potential for even more advancements in managing this disease.
I also know what you mean about the thoughts of prostate cancer occupying your mind. It does with me too! I wake up in the middle of the night and my first thoughts are 'prostate cancer'. I think the diagnosis fundamentally makes our worlds stop and start spinning a different way! I wish I could tell you how to distract yourself but so far nothing seems to work for long!
Take care of yourself and let us know how you get on!
Hi Susielou - Sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis - it's a shock to the system at first - but don't be all gloom and doom. He's already started down the treatment path with Hormones and just as soon as the results from the biopsy come in I am sure a full treatment plan will be forthcoming.
As Worriedwife said above medicine has moved on and this cancer is treatable and also as Robina has said above, read other people's journey's - we are all different but there are plenty of journeys that end well here - mine included.
This is the place to vent your anxiety and anger but there is also hope and advice here. You are not alone we are all with you.
Kind Regards - Brian.
