Hi everyone , I'm not sure what to do for the best.

My dad was admitted to a and e in October with severe pain in his side , he stayed in for two weeks .

Biopsies we're taken several times as the first set wernt good enough.

At the end of January he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer , he was told that he would need surgery within a fortnight.

However for what ever reason they changed their minds with a view to do chemo instead .

We are now at the end of March and chemo has still not begun , he has lost so much weight ,he doesn't eat anything (he's diabetic) .

He's in constant pain he doesn't sleep and im not sure what to do ! I've messaged the oncologist nurse hoping that she will get in touch tomorrow.  He is seen regularly by the district nurse .

I've not been through this before ,is this amount of time to wait for treatment normal?? I feel now that chemo wouldn't benefit him as he is so weak .

Any advice appreciated xx

  • I'm so sorry to hear you've not heard any updates. As your Dad feels in pain it may be best to ring your Dr's surgery and ask him to come and examine your Dad. It's unfair to be left without medical advice. Hope you can get some one there soon.

  • Hi thanks for your reply , yes spoke to the GP yesterday who prescribed more painkillers but they don't seem to help.

Hopefully oncologist nurse will get in touch today x
