Cut long story short, I been in pain since January, now they found a 14mm cystic lesion on tail of pancreas, I'm on 2 different types of morphine and just recently discharged from hospital, my discharge letter says they going to review and discuss with mdt team, does that mean I have cancer, I also have 5 mm pulmonary nodule on my lung which I go back to get chest scan next month. Please help as I don't know what all this means.

  • Hi

Welcome to our community though sorry to hear about what you are going through, your form of cancer is very different to the one my wife had but from what we went through I can really relate to the difficult of going through the process of diagnosis - cancer or not.

i had a quick look at what a cyctic lession is and from what I read it seems they can be benign or cancerous so that does not give a definitive answer. In terms of the lung with my wife they took a series of images and then they could work out what if anything was changing as things growing can be quite a good indicator.

MDT means multi-disciplinary team - this is where lots of different specialists get together to discuss all the data around your case and work out what the next step would be.

The pages on the main site here list all sorts of tests the doctors may do in order to get to a final diagnosis, for my wife's cancer hers was only finally diagnosed after a biopsy.

    <<hugs>>

  • Hi thank you for getting back to me and I'm sorry to hear about your wife.

I just need answers as to why the mdt team is reviewing my ongoing health issues, I'm also on list awaiting surgery to remove the cystic lesion and the spleen as well.

I have 4 children and I want to be able to tell them exactly what is happening but I don't know and I keep calling the hospital and I have left multiple messages and yet still no one calling me back.

  • I am glad that they are removing the tail and spleen …. It is a big operation but will stop the dreaded cancer cells having a chance to develop and give you peace of mind .. best of luck .x

  • My partner's pancreatic lesion was benign for over 12 years. So not necessarily cancer

  • Thank you so much for getting back to me, my doctor got in touch and said they are waiting until end of this month for the inflammation to go down on my pancreas but the inflammation has never really went down unless the put me on fluids through drip but they said that also could take more time and they really need inflammation to go down to get a definite diagnosis, apparently my cancer markers are up and down each time I get bloods but they don't really tell me much, I've also recently been told I'm anaemic. I'm so tired all the time and can sleep all day and night. Xx

  • Thank you so much for getting in touch. Means alot xx
