Hello to you all. I’ve just been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer , with metastatic cancers in lungs and other places. The news was delivered on Ward rounds and now I have returned home I have been left in limbo. Biopsy has been delayed until 3rd January so no bid cancer team meeting until after that. I guess it doesn’t matter now given the diagnosis, but I feel it would be better to have some sort of treatment going on.

  • Hi,

From my experience once the biopsy is taken they will know which type of cancer it is. My husband has adenocarcinoma of the pancreas and portal vein and the SMA with lymph nodes. As soon as the results were back he started chemo within three days to try and srink the Tumor. We do not know if it is operable yet and won’t know for a while yet whilst we wait to see if the chemo works. Are you looking to do chemo?

  • Hello Chris,

im sorry I haven’t answered you before, I have been quite disorganised.

I am still awaiting a successful biopsy on the secondaries, after two failed attempts around the stomach ones.

they are now proposing targeting one in my lung, but first have to have my breathing assessed for some reason, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.

I was hoping to have some sort of treatment by now, but as the specialist cancer team only meet on Tuesdays every decision is delayed until the next Tuesday.

I can’t see anything happening until after 14th February now, nine weeks after the full diagnosis was delivered to me.

I wish your Husband well, and hope the outcome will provide clarity for you both.
