Hi Everyone, me again.
im not sure that I’m husband is on the right amount of morphine.
He takes between 30-40mls of oral morph in 24 hour period and 20mls of long release tablet morphine over 24 hour period.
Is that about average for everyone taking morphine?
thanks
Chrissie

I think everyone is different and "one cap does not fit all".
I take 2 x 500mg Paracetamol twice per day and 2 x 10mg Zomorph capsules twice a day. My GP always says "don't be a martyr to the pain - take relief." When we last discussed this he told me that if the pain was increasing then continue with the tablets and take some oral morphine to reduce the pain.
Make a note of how much oral is required and he would then increase the strength of the morphine tablets to match the increased need.
I think the first port of call is your GP to discuss the situation and make him aware that your husband requires more/stronger pain relief.

Hi Ian, I took your advice and wrote down how much we was taking. The Consultant then changed his meds and increased the dose so his on 50mls now daily which has made a big difference in his sleeping and general well-being.
thank you so much for your reply.
i just wanted to see if most people were on morphine and paracetamol.
