My partner had a melanoma removed from his back and yesterday they found a lump in his armpit. This is on top of his pancreatic cancer. On Tuesday we heard his blood tests were quite good and we felt more hopeful, now this
I'm sorry to hear that after having a melanoma removed from your partner's back a lump has been found in his armpit.
I see that you have joined the melanoma group and you'll get lots of helpful advice and information on what happens next if you'd like to start a thread over there. I had a melanoma removed from my arm three years ago so do understand the worry that this brings.
I see that on 3 June you posted that he was going to be having a WLE and SLNB. Has he had these operations yet?

Hi latchbrook, no nothing as yet, yesterday's appointment was the first since they removed the mole. We will have to wait for an appointment for the WLE and SLNB. Everything seems to move so slowly and all the while he looses weight and hope
Hi Squeaky, we are re waiting for an appointment where they will inject the area where the mole was with a radio active due. Whatever lymph gland takes it up first they will take a biopsy. I assume that they will also investigate the lump they found yesterday. The paper work they gave us indicates they have new drugs if chemo is needed, hope he is well enough should he need them. Thankyou for thinking of us, x
I'm sorry to hear that your husband doesn't have a date yet for his WLE and SLNB Needing friends
I'm not sure when he had the mole removed but to give you an idea of timescales mine was removed in October and about 6 weeks later the biopsy was back with the result that it was melanoma. My appointment to see the plastic surgeon to discuss the WLE and SLNB was about 10 weeks after I'd been told the lesion was a melanoma and I then had the WLE and SLNB about 2 weeks after that. So in total about 18 weeks from the original excision until the WLE. I was unlucky in that Christmas and New Year got in the way so there were less appointments available so hopefully your husband's ops may be quicker.
He should have been assigned a SCNS and it might be an idea to give her a call and ask if a date has been set yet for the WLE and SLNB.
Was the lump in his armpit found during a check-up for his melanoma?

Hi Needing Friends I havnt forgotten you. I've been spending a load of time at Ealing Hospital with my Anne trying to get my head around what for her is the dying process. But you and your partner/hubby have hope. My sincere thoughts and feelings are with you.
Bless. Geoff x
At the end of all our journeying will be to find ourselves back where we started knowing the place for the first time. TS ELIOT.
Hi latchbrook, no, as far as I know he hasn't been assigned a specialist nurse for his skin cancer but does have access to pancreatic nurse. The lump was found on his check up for melanoma, he had the mole excised a good few weeks ago and this was his first follow-up appointment. They said they would arrange the following WLE and SLNB as urgent, hopefully it won't be too long.. Should we ask for a Scns do you think? X
Your husband's timescale for the WLE and SLNB sounds to be on track. When I had my meeting to discuss the WLE and SLNB I then had the ops a couple of weeks later.
Yes your husband should ask for the details of the SCNS. They are full of useful, reassuring advice and are the person to contact if your husband notices something that has changed on his skin in between his three monthly check-ups.
