dear Kate and all,

I promised admin that I’d clean my act up and keep my interminable waffle in a separate thread....so others don’t have to read it. This was in another group.

Anyway, lovely day everyone. Chemo is being pretty rough on me below the waist. Haemorrhoids. Walking funny!

If anyone has any tips for this problem, please let me know.

  • Hi folks

Just in case you miss it, Lady P has posted in the post about Whipple. She has been in the hospice for symptom relief and hospital for a procedure.

Hi Squeaky. Thank you so much for your Lady P update. I think we've all missed her. She's been on my mind. It seems strange. As i don't think any of us have met. But whenever my tablet/phone 'whistles'. I do wonder...

I hope everyone's ok. How are you at gift wrapping? I know i'm rubbish....x

    • Hello all

i don’t know where I posted yesterday! I might have been under the influence of sedation. Anyway back in hospice today. My operation to fit a duodenal stent went well and I’m now able to eat without vomiting. These doctors are magicians. Hospital was very tedious and uncomfortable. Of course I’d also like to be out if hospice but I’ll be patient...for the time being.

the difference between attitudes in hospital and hospice can be quite marked.,.started the day having a spat with incredibly rude health care assistant. Immediately following this she was incredibly nice to me. Those customer satisfaction forms at be something to do with it! I didn’t write anything unpleasant about her but I quite like the concept of accountability.

The hospice, by contrast, is so very warm and welcoming, telling me they’d missed me on my return! I don’t mind if they were lying!

Spending my time watching rubbish telly, people falling into Christmas trees, that sort of thing.  You’ll be hearing more from me soon.

    Pepys. Xx

Hey, hey, hey Lady P. We've all missed you. TVman & i were very concerned. I even emailed the 'mac Moderator' to see if you were ok. I understood they couldn't help. But they were glad we seem to be part of a 'supportive' community. I'm so pleased you're having procedures to improve things. Rubbish telly can be fantastic. (Throw in a lovely hot cup of tea & a ginger nut & i'm on top of the world). I'm obviously easily pleased!!!

i had an awfully scary day. I had the most awful sharp pain on the side of my head, felt sick & dizzy. Checked my blood pressure. Much too high, eventhough i had taken a higher dose of my BP med. so i nervously went to A&E. lovely, caring staff. My BP was dangerously high when they checked. I had other tests which seemed to be ok. But they've told me to tell my GP & the eye hospital i go to about today. They've suggested it's still all the grief from my mum. I'm going to have more intensive counselling sessions in the new year. I had such an exhausting, emotional day. But at least i got a free sarnie & a pot of OJ out of it!!!

Good luck Lady P. We can't wait for a long post from you. We want to know what the stork brought... Stay warm & cosy!!! X

Hello ali have been very touched to read all your posts. I know you will be pleased to know I’m alive and, whilst not exactly kicking, at least putting up a fight.

Fantastic Lady P. Great news. Keep up with the rubbish telly. It's saved my 'sanity many a time!!!' They should write prescriptions for the office, extras, miranda & only fools & horses!!! X

Very relieved to see you here, Pepys. Enjoy your rubbish telly!

Picked up my new wee car today. I’ve resisted having a car for so long and I’ve never bought a brand new one before. Very exciting. It’s a Fiat 500  in metallic grey - my road wolf! I’ve called it Rex as the number plate starts RX. Also Latin for king so it’s my king of the road. And Latin is old Italian! I just thought “what the hell”. I kept it small so not too polluting although part of me is ashamed of myself for giving in and having a fossil fuel using vehicle. The electric ones are just not practical with the lack of charging points, etc. I may switch to one once that improves (and the price comes down a bit). At least I can now go and see the wolves whenever I want without worrying about getting my husband’s work car back within a certain time!

  • Hi Pepys

As Vixen was saying, we had a few conversations about you because we were very concerned, as no doubt others were too.

Glad to hear the operation went well, you'll be on your feet in no time hopefully. Your mention of the sedation does explain why you posted where you did lol. I get the feeling that no one wants to take you on lol. I'm similar, if they're good I'll let them know, many times I have written afterwards to let their superiors know. I went into a Tesco in a local town a short while ago and met a girl who used to be one of my customers, in fact I knew her and her extended family for 35 years. She had just finished her shift as I wheeled myself in. She knew about the cancer but had never seen me in the chair. What did she do? She grabbed a trolley and did my shopping for me, it wasn't much, just a few items, but I was so pleased that she did, and I spent ages the next day trying to get to the store and then to her store manager and I let him know of my happy experience. He was gobsmacked that someone would do that.

Ok, sorry but I need sleep, goodnight all.

    Tvman xx

    Love life and family.
  • Hi everyone

I am sitting listening to the rain on the roof. Yesterday it was very dark all day and the street lights came on at 2.30. Fortunately, although it was cold there was no snow.

its interesting to read how everyone is getting on.

Kate, I think that your Dad is low not only because of your Mum’s death but his surgery too. There is a view that for many people who lose a partner that it is particularly hard around the sixth or seventh month. Just keep supporting him and things may get better.

My haemoglobin levels which were so low are now back to normal although the GP will continue to monitor me.
