Hello! Ovaries removed in December 2025 for benign cysts but cancer grade 3 found, next surgery was in February 2026 - completion hysterectomy + omentectomy and final diagnosis stage 3a2 endometrioid ovarian cancer. Getting used to all the words and abbreviations! Next is 6 chemotherapy sessions starting in a few weeks followed by maintenance drugs. Overall I’m feeling grateful it was all found and the response has been quick.

Im 6 weeks post surgery and before all this I ran and cycled regularly. I went for a very short run / walk today and was wondering what people’s experience is of running while going through chemotherapy? I’d like to continue exercise when possible.

  • I think gentle running is ok - don't go mental. But you might want to get clearance from your medical team  as its pretty early days. I have tried running during my chemo - but I have a DVT now and it's that which is making running really difficult for me rather than chemo. I spoke to both oncologist and vascular team before I restarted. Best of luck x

  • Do you know any physiotherapists that deal specifically with alot of cancer patients?

At st james leeds there is a Maggies where they do yoga and pilates by specialists who only really work with cancer patients and especially NEWLY operated on people .

Why not ring a Maggies centre and ask their advice ?

Of course I understand that there may not be one near you but it would be ideal to seek someone who is experienced and qualified enough to speak with .

For yourself individually as many are so individual .

Especially so soon after such a surgery !

Run Rabbit run .....but look after yourself and then maybe and hopefully further on in the summer you may be able to do more valley & Dale.

I think you've got to bear in mind not to expect too much from yourself just now but look forward to that attitude ..making it possible and laying the foundation for advancement!

Even people with cesarean operations must have this mindset so that when their bambino is crawling at 69mph they can catch them...!RunnerRunner
