Hi i'm Kate

I have recently been diagnosed with stage 1c ovarian cancer. I had a full hysterectomy for a non suspicious cyst and endometriosis on1st June. I waited over a year for surgery. The diagnosis was quite unexpected. Iv had a long wait but finally have completion surgery booked for next week. Feeling nervous but ready to get on with it. I have been finding this forum very informative. So many lovely ladies going through this with me. Wishing you all the very best xx

  • Hi Kate and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's natural to feel nervous about your upcoming surgery but, if my surgery for a different type of cancer was anything to go by, you'll be well looked after at the hospital.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending a virtual (((hug)))

  • Thank you, how are you doing? Have you started your chemo yet?

    Kate xx

  • Thank you for your kind words. Just getting used to this site I will have a look and update profile. Hope you are doing ok. You sound like you are having quite a difficult journey. Virtual hugs right back

  • Hi Kate, doing okay thank you.

I’ve had two chemo sessions so far and luckily I’ve just felt very tired no sickness. My white blood cells have been down for the second week in a row so I’m hoping this week they will be up so I can have my third round.

Have they said you will have any chemo treatment?

    xx

  • Fingers crossed for your bloods to be ok. It must be so frustrating when I'm sure you just want to get on with it. Good you have coped ok with the chemo so far. Yes they said I would need chemo 4-5 weeks following surgery If recovery is ok xx

  • Thank you! Yes very frustrating apparently it’s quite common with Carboplatin though. Do you know what chemo you’ll be having? xx

    1. That hasn't been discussed yet but from what I have read that seems to be the one of choice for my type of cancer. What type do you have? xx
  • I had Mucinous what about yourself? xx
