Hi, I have been diagnosed with stage 3c/4 low grade ovarian cancer after having a total hysterectomy, removal of part of peritoneum, removal of omentum and laser applied to small intestine, I also have an enlarged lymph node in my chest. I am meeting my oncology consultant on Thursday to discuss treatment and am trying to get as much information as possible to prepare me.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I have a different type of cancer, so can't help with personal experience of the type you have, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to spot.

In case you don't get any replies before your appointment on Thursday, this is a link to Macmillan's information about ovarian cancer and this takes you to a page on making treatment decisions. The latter might give you some ideas of the sorts of questions you could ask.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your diagnosis and proposed treatment, when you know what you'll be having, into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
