Hi

New to the forum, just wanted some advice and guidance. Have recently had 2 ta/tv ultrasounds, first scan showed adnexal cyst by right ovary and on my recent scan it showed another cyst on left side. I have now received a text from my GP to request CA125 blood test. Waiting for the results, I am 52, not started menopause however my periods are irregular with sometimes missing a period and then having heavy period, my abdomen feels and looks bloated and I feel full after eating, I'm worried as I know I have some signs of OC, feel slightly worried.

  • Morning….. just thought I’d pop a reply over to you. Firstly, try not to worry! Let’s get some positive energy going! I know it is a worrying time for you, but try to focus on the questions you need to ask your GP. Make a list of what you feel you want to know. In my view, if it is OC then they are doing all the right things and hopefully catching it early. If your CA125 levels have risen then they will likely refer you to oncology and you will hopefully receive support and comfort from their team. Do you have close friends/ family you can share your concerns with? I’ve always found that it’s good to have a sounding board to get things into perspective and I’m lucky to have such a friend and supportive family. So, fingers crossed that everything is ok. Loads of positive energy pinging it’s way over to you. Good luck xxx

  • Many thanks for your reply, my CA125 result has come back normal and GP has said no action.  Just not sure now what I need to do about these 2 cysts, just wait I suppose, to see if they disappear?

  • Hi, I'm not sure yet if you have requested a copy of the ultrasound reports?  If not then I would request a copy of both of those reports and post on here what the ultrasounds say.

Do you know what size your cysts are?  Are the cysts just filled with fluid?

Apologies for my ignorance but I have never heard of a adnexal cyst but anything other than a simple cyst I'd want to be reassured it's nothing to worry about.

A CA125 result of normal is of course better news than it being raised but as we all know some women can have ovarian cancer without a raised level.  What level was your CA125?

If you could provide more information then we may be able to help and advise you.

I do hope everything is fine for you.

  • Hi, thanks for your reply.  I had the first scan which showed a cyst on right side, I believe it is small around 5cm, I was advised to have a second scan in 8 weeks time which showed the cyst was still there and I have another cyst on the left side however I have not been told size etc.  My CA125 was 10.  I have already requested both scan reports from my GP and will chase these up tomorrow.

  • Hi Mitch! I’m really interested to hear how you’re getting on? Hugs XXX

  • Hi, thanks for your message.

I managed to get copies of my USS report which states:

Persistent right ovarian cyst with a fine septum inside measuring 2.5x2.4 previously was clear and measured 2.5x1.7

The left ovary has a newly developed thin wall anechoic cyst measuring 3.8x2.7 cm previously was not present.

I was advised to have a rescan after 6 months.

My only symptoms are bloating however I'm not sure if that is just due to the menopause.
