Hi my name is Caroline, I'm new to the group, despite being diagnosed with peritoneal cancer last year in June. I've under gone chemotherapy and several drains and procedures on both of my lungs. I'm currently in remission but I have problems with my left lung as it is trapped. It was trapped due to the ascites fluid which built up. I experience breathlessness just carrying out simple tasks plus I have asthma too. Recently I've begun to lack motivation to do anything as I'm tired all of the time. I sleep alot during the day and then have difficulty sleeping during the night.
I've started a new regime of medication instead of chemo I'm now taking the maintenance medication Olaparib which I take on a daily basis. I've experienced lots of side effects of these tablets but my blood results have been positive. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any side effects whilst taking this medication.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Caroline, welcome to our group . I am halfway through 2 years maintenance on Olaparib, my side effects are manageable, mainly aching joints, not great when you are on your feet 5 hours a day at John Lewis! Fortunately I only do 2 days and they let me sit down if i need to . Sometimes i get tummy ache, and feel quite drained, but I find a banana works wonders with a coffee and a 10 minute sit down at home , just pace yourself and go with the flow- this morning I was helping my husband to clear the loft! . Take care and keep us posted how you get on
love
Janet
Hi Janet thank you so much for replying to my message it's good to hear from you.
It's good to hear that you have found ways to tackle and overcome some of the side effects. I think I will try them too. I just want to get better and get back to normal so I can return to work & be more active. Its going to take time but I'm ready to start getting fitter and then hopefully I will have more motivation and enthusiasm
Thank you once again take care
Love Caroline x
