Hi after having a cyst on my ovaries  which resulted in having to have everything removed .stage 2.

After six session of chemotherapy, I was told today iam in remission   i  couldnt stop crying  .now iam worried What medication is normally prescribed or can I just be monitored without medication, worried about the side effects to more medication

  • Congratulations XX I was given the same news on the 14 Feb too. I'm stage 4 so have quite a long maintenance journey. I find activity on here sporadic and when you're in need for support I find Facebook group cancer UK  or Ovarian cancer action better . Good luck

  • Thank you  for your replyi. And congratulations on your news too .

I will check the your recommendations out .

Good luck for the future xx

  • Congratulations Flowerx - that's great news.  You are ahead of me as I've only had three cycles of my chemotherapy.

Did you find out if you needed any more medication?  I'm on the NHS but I have a consultant oncologist that I meet with every three weeks and I hope you do too?  I think this is definitely a question for your oncologist in terms of any medication and ongoing monitoring as I presume it will be every three months for the first two years and then every six months until year 5?

That is what I have been told if, fingers crossed, I'm given the all clear after my chemotherapy finishes.

  • Good news Flowerx. I think as you were only stage 2 you won't need maintenance treatment just monitoring as Sarah has said. Your Onc should give you details though.
