Hi there, hoping that someone can help me. I got my diagnosis 2 weeks ago and am going to see consultant on wednesday to find out about treatment etc. Just really wanted to share this. I am staying positive and level headed. Just wanted someone to know that.

  • Hi,

just wanted to say welcome on board, and let you know that your not alone…. The hardest part is the waiting and once you have a medical plan arranged you can get on with sorting all the other things out…go armed with a notebook so you can scribble things down and if you don’t understand the medical terms do ask them to explain it again as sometimes I just blanked out…if you can take someone with you, my oncologist encouraged that.

Be kind to yourself and concentrate on healthy eating and keeping well hydrated, gentle exercise if you can … start planning for a period in your life which is like a rollercoaster of emotions (not all bad) and  after Wednesday come back tell us what the diagnosis and plan is and the lovely ladies on here will all top up with their own experiences and advice.

I was in your position exactly 1 year ago , scared and lost .. a very surreal period followed with hysterectomy, staging, chemotherapy and given the all clear in August , Cancer free …so ClapClapClapClap

you will feel so much better after your appointment

Big hug for tomorrow and ask away if you need anything…. I’m glad you shared x

  • Hi,

Just wanted to say good luck for you appointment tomorrow- you'll feel a bit better when you're given a plan, as Becalm says. The waiting and not knowing is horrible. Staying positive was really helpful- you'll have bad days but try to get out for a coffee or a walk whenever you feel up to it. I was diagnosed Stage 3c age 40 in November 2012 and I'm still here and cancer-free, which I hope gives you some hope. Research is improving statistics all the time so try not to Google, and only look at reputable sites.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow. Best wishes for your journey- happy to answer any questions- just take it one step at a time

  • Good luck for tomorrow, Im 43 and was diagnosed in July 2021 . Once a plan is in place things become better . Take each day one step at a time . Be kind to yourself too. I hope all goes well tomorrow and that you get some comfort from your consultation.
