My wife is currently in hospital as she has huge discomfort eating and is losing weight alarmingly. She was diagnosed with a 'bad' stage 3 three years ago. First wave of treatment involving surgery and chemotherapy successful, first recurrence last year was successfully cleared with carboplatin and paclitaxel, this year's recurrence proving much more difficult. It seems that we are up to the 'final chapter'. She has been offered a course of paclitaxel on it's own as cylaex? didn't work.
A stent is also being considered to help with gastric obstruction. Has anyone any positive outcome from a similar situation?
Many thanks for listening.
Hi Steve,
Really sorry to hear about your wife - this really is such a punishing disease .
I wish I was able to share a positive outcome with you but I’m still on a similar journey to your wife myself I’m afraid - battling a recurrence of OC after just 3 months in remission, and being platinum resistant and now hospitalised with a bowel obstruction, limiting my options for further treatments.
I really hope though that reading other posts on this site and knowing you’re not alone brings you some comfort, and I wish you and your wife all the very best.
Love Bxx
