Hi All
Can anyone recommend specialist hair products that you think helped with keeping your hair during chemo or perhaps made it grow back quicker?
Thank you
Hi, nothing is not the response I'd give .
I have lost 50% in the last month and I'm trying moogoo. I think the seaweed company has good reviews. I will be asking my dermatologist at the Marsden about the seaweed company. I am trying to wash my hair one a week and dry naturally with not products. I am also trying not to wear my hair back as my hair is receding now too. I guess there's no proof as to if something works or if the hair just grows back naturally but I would love to also hear other ideas. x
It will most certainly grow back when treatment is completed ...sometimes not exactly as ot was maybe / maybe not .
Unfortunately whilst chemotherapy is taking place within your blood stream nothing can protect the matrix .
We specialise in hair loss .
If your hair is receding allowing it to fall its natural way is the gentlest way to wear it .
Once chemo is over ...IRON ZINC and BIOTIN play a very important part ftom within .
I am so sorry you've lost 50% of your hair already.
Good luck
I used the Philip Kingsley no scent no colour gentle shampoo and conditioner . Only washed it gently once a week and only brushed very gently or with a wide toothed comb. I didn’t use a hair dryer or straighteners etc
I used the cold cap and probably lost about 50% mostly on the top where it thinned but didn’t go bald , the sides were more or less fine (well looked fine) . I have thick hair so maybe that helped it look ok
After chemo it grew back quickly , I gave it about 6 months before I had highlights redone
Good luck xx
Yes carbo and paclitaxol - it didn’t really start thinning until about the 3rd cycle (I had 6 in total) . It was just below shoulder length and I just let it grow so that I could put it up at the back to hide the thinning to some degree . I didn’t have it cut at all for a good while after so had a bit of mullet for a while but I wanted to wait until it grew a bit to thicken up - to be fair I was very happy when I finally lost the mullet !!
Wow ! Now that sounds lucky and will be me hopefully !
I have to have 3 rounds before surgery but have the same as you .
Same here about the sea !
Peace & tranquility !
You were diagnosed October 24 .
I was diagnosed march / april 2026
You are in my thoughts !
I‘m using the Nature coconut shampoo and conditioner no parabens or sulfites, shampooed very gently once a week. Brushed delicately with a wide toothed comb. I didn’t dye my hair or used any other styling products or a hair dryer. I’m using a silk turban to sleep, a silk pillowcase and silk scrunchies to tie my hair (loosely). Basically treating my hair as if it’s made of crystal. I’m on cycle 10 of 12 and so far managed to preserve about 80% of my hair. I have lots of hair luckily so it’s hardly noticeable other than my “hairstyle” is terrible, that is…
