Hello! I am hoping to spend 5 days in France and have been quoted £500. I am having maintenance treatment for ovarian cancer diagnosed at stage 3c last April.

I wondered if anyone could recommend a good insurance company, who will be able to guide me through the process and perhaps come up with something more competitive.

thank you,

Kate

  • Hi, insurance is a pain when we have cancer. I also have ovarian cancer, with my latest trip I used the post office and they were very good. Good luck. X

  • Thank you for replying. Did you feel that they were sufficiently  knowledgeable to be able to help you? When I’ve tried to fill in a form online I haven’t been that sure I’m answering the questions correctly. Thanks, Katie

  • Hi

It can be more difficult, and of course more expensive, to get travel insurance with cancer and/or ongoing treatment. I see you’ve joined our travel insurance group where there are lots of personal recommendations from others.

Have  you had a chance to have a look through this thread here?

My own personal experience is that it’s better to call up and speak to someone rather than complete a form online as then you can be sure that you are answering all the questions and things are not left to chance.

Good luck with finding something suitable, and I hope you’ll be able to enjoy your trip.

    Sarah xx

  • Hi Kate.

    1. I have peritoneal and ovarian cancer with bowel obstruction. I've just got travel insurance for Tenerife. The further you go the more expensive . I was quoted nearly£800 for a week...
    2. However my cancer centre recommends a company called Mia... They use Staysure...
    3. I've just paid £970 for a years cover or it was£400 for 7 days. I did it over the phone. They are very very helpful and make sure you have the cover you need for your diagnosis.
    4. Good luck.
  • Hi, I am 4 yrs post diagnosis I have travelled many times since and always use Insure With. Easy to complete on line forms and good prices. Just bought 3 weeks worldwide with a cruise for 3 weeks and it was £223.

    hope this helps
