Stage 3 high grade serous ovarian cancer diagnosed in July 2024.
Radial hysterectomy August 2024 followed by 6 rounds of chemotherapy. CA125 has been less than 10 after surgery & has continued to be less than 10 throughout & after chemo.
Final CT confirmed no evidence of disease.
I was started on maintenance drug Nairparib 300mg, they started me on high dose as I tolerated chemo well and Im young (well 50!). I took this at night & actually felt wired, did not sleep at all & felt nausea.
I was taken off the drug for a week to reset my body & started again on 200mg. I am taking this in the morning, have slight nausea but am sleeping.
Can anyone who has taken or is taking Nairparib can advise if the symptoms settle at all once the body gets adjusts to it?
I do not feel really unwell but just not myself.
Thank you ️
I had the same cancer as you last year and the same treatment (full surgery and 6 chemos). I started Niraparib in October. A month later I halved the dose to one pill as it made me so sick. I stopped for 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year but then stopped for good after another 2 weeks. It just made me so sick.
It is now two months later and the sickness has only really just started to abate. I am still incredibly tired and breathless.
It is possible that a lot of the sickness and most of the fatigue is still from that beating my body took last year.
If I were you I'd keep going on the basis that it may be more than the Niraparib making you feel not yourself, it may just be that whole just process your body has been through!
Good Luck!
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I think I will continue for a while, see how it goes. Its really hard as do not want to feel not myself going forward.
Our bodies have taken quite a battering from surgery & chemo, it will take time I am sure to adjust to a new kind of normal.
wishing you well in your continuing journey
