Newly diagnosed (last Tuesday), awaiting 1st appt with oncologist.

The gyneoncologist told me to concentrate, until I start treatment, on keeping well nourished, fit and healthy. I do follow this lifestyle in general nornormally!

Been reading some data on taking probiotics and wondered if anyone had been taking them before, during and after treatment?

TIA

  • Hi, Meh.  I'm not sure if your 'treatment' will include chemotherapy (actually it would be great if you could complete your profile as it would then be easier to advise and help you) but if your treatment does include chemotherapy then you cannot take probiotics during chemotherapy.

I'm not aware of any reason why you can't take probiotics before or after chemo but definitely not during.  Before your chemo begins you will be advised of the food that you will no longer be able to eat, e.g. runny egg yolks.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis; it must be a challenging time. It's great that you're already following a healthy lifestyle. When it comes to probiotics, it's essential to consult with your oncologist or healthcare provider. They can recommend the best probiotics that suit your specific situation and won't interfere with your treatment plan. Wishing you all the best on your journey to recovery!

  • Hi Sarah

I’ve never been told what I can and can’t eat during chemo or before n after for that matter(other than what will affect the stoma) when I first got it

and I’ve never heard it before until now although I’ve finished chemo now but find it interesting we’re all told different things

    take care all
