Hey Everyone I am really desperate for a little help. I have Grade 4 Ovarian which has spread to my liver, vagina, spleen, brain and lungs.
I have been dealing with things pretty well up to now but the pulmonary mets are really terrible. I have had a cough since November, I cant sleep at night for it and I must admit I don't think I can take much more. I have just started on a new regime of caelyx every 4 weeks, my first cycle was on Monday I know it's early days but its not helping yet.
The palliative doctor prescribed gabapentin which made it even worse. Please, please, does anyone have any ideas of how I can ease this. I have tried:-
Sleeping sitting up
Steam inhaler
various cough sweets
hot baths and hot water bottles
Paracetamol and ibuprofen
Lots of hot drinks
Gentle exercise/no exercise.
Please, please, please can someone help???
Hi Inme
I noticed you haven’t had a response yet so thought this may bump you back up a bit on site incase there is someone that has some sound advice. sorry to hear about your discomfort, nothing worse than breathing problems, I have copd and had a couple of chest infections in last couple of year’s, which does cause panic when you can’t breathe. Probably silly question have you got any inhaler’s and a nebuliser? Also maybe your cancer nurse could refer you for chest physio, which in turn could leave you with an excercise regimen to help the breathing, I noticed you mentioned taking ibuprofen I am not sure you should take this when you on chemo I was told not to use it. Check with your nurse. Sorry I can’t give any more advice, maybe on lung cancer forum May get some advice. And obviously your nurse.
I hope you soon get some relief and all the best with your treatment.

Hi Pheobe 57
Thank you so much for replying. I don't have inhalers or nebuliser spoke to the doctor bout these and she doesn't think they will help in my situation. I have had some breathing help off the nurse which helps a little and I will check out the lung cancer forum thank you. I didn't know about the ibuprofen but now you mention it I think I have heard that before so will check this out also.
I hope someone can help soon. Thanks for replying Pheobe57 I hope your treatment goes well Good Luck
