Morning! I am stating chemo on Monday, : Carboplatin, Paclitaxel & Bevacizumab. I'm told it will take at least 6 hrs, and with covid I am not able to have anyone with me, so I have my chemo bag packed with a lot of magazines, music player etc., and to be honest I am not bothered about being alone but I would welcome Any tips and info on how I might feel in the days after my first 'Serving' of my chemo.. ( oc stage 4b)..

Much love Two hearts

  • Morning your having exactly the same as I had I'm guessing it is 3 weekly for 6 cycles. Week 1 plan not to do much, tired do things slowly, week 2 bit better, week 3 back to normal and so it goes on. Its worth going through with it, for me scan after 3 revieled tumour reduced from 7.5 to 3.5 gone from liver still in the omentum, chemo suspended and waiting for the surgery in the next few weeks. The staff will really look after you. Keep in touch hope it goes as well for you as it has for me big virtual hugs.

  • Ahr! That's great to hear.. I'm ready for whatever is ahead, but so reassuring to get this info from you who has and is going through same thing, and yes it is 6 in total, I each 3 weeks... Omg that is fabulous for you absolutely done it's job so your cancer totally reacted to the chemo, I'm wishing you all the luck, that's great news... Can I ask your age, I'm 60...

  • I'm 67 in May, live alone with my dog and very independent. I had no symptoms only found out after a routine blood test, my GP thought I might have a slight bleed so referred me for bowel investigations which found the tumour bit of a roller coaster started I've been positive all the way through I'm going to get through this and get my life back even if it's a bit different. Do have bad dark days. Keep going you'll get there.

  • It's me again, I guess your oncologist has warned you that you will lose your hair, a tip I was given was to get some head wear I got some very stylish turban type from a company called Shein they were very reasonable I wear them when I'm out with friends, yes you will still be going out on week 3. I also love hats.

  • Yes they said Hair would go, I have long hair  which I can donate to the ' Little Princess Trust' so I'm glad I can do that, .. yes I'm prepared got a couple of head attire in, turbines etc., but I will look into your recommendation,.. You sound like one hell of a strong lady! I bet your Dog is your soul mate, ( mine is ) at the minute I too I'm very positive, in a way I'm faking it till I make it! and I'm sure I will.. same as you!!! Us lasses got to stick together.. so lovely to hear your journey. X

  • Forgot to say; me to I only found out I had OV by chance, I feel totally fine and healthy? But inside I've got stage 4b overian cancer.. Massive Shock.. but it is what it is.

  • Hi foxygirl, just wondering how things are for you! Good I hope...

  • Hi I'm doing good so far, been taking olaparib 600mg daily with 3 weekly infusions of avastin. Have achy legs due apparently due to some muscle wasting and more tired.

On the positive side my ca125 is stable at 10 and having made some adjustments in my lifestyle like don't go out much at the end of the day but make sure I go out at least 5 times a week, book club monthly, tai chi and choir weekly, coffee out twice a week and early doors meal weekly, walk the dog daily. My GP is referring me to the gym to see if I can increase my excersize.

Still panic when I'm waiting for the scan results, you just never know do you. How are you doing?

  • Morning, good to hear from you! So glad you are still doing all your activities and starting a gym routine, good on you!!!!  As for me I had debulking op which was successful but that seems to be the case with alot of us, started to feel pretty well I took advice had a week away at the lakes I thought I'm starting to get back old self. I was offered Niraparib, took bloods before I started and ca125 was 588, plus I'm in agony with back pain so at the moment my anxiety is taking over, I have CT scan appointment in 2 weeks as ca125 has been raied after each blood test at 864 now?! So I can only wait to see what will be, so worried cacer has come calling again as can't think what else would cause these symptoms.. it's so upsetting as I was really starting to feel good, thanks for listening.
