Waiting game and not sure how to feel

Hi, I originally went to the doctor's thinking I had a prolapse, she referred me for an ultra sound. I had this at 8.30am on 29th October, by 2pm the doctor called me, saying that a 2 and half inch adnormal looking cyst had been picked up on my left ovary and that she had booked me in for a blood test 1st November. She called me on the Tuesday to say the results were fine, but because of the size and shape she wanted me referred to the gynecologist. He called me 3 weeks ago, said he wasn't overly worried but booked me in for an MRI scan, which I had 2 weeks ago today. I still haven't heard anything regarding results.

I have always had tummy trouble since I started my periods, then at 17 ended up in hospital with bad IBS, so pain and bloating are nothing new to me, I also constantly need the toilet so again nothing new there.

The reason I am feelig so worried, is because at the age of 29 my cousin was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, after going to the doctor's and being passed from pillar to post and fobbed off with no investigations until it got to late! She very sadly died 18 months later.

I just want to know what if anything I should be worried about, there is definitely something not right in there, I just want to know as I feel so down and trying to be up beat for my family and be excited for Christmas is hard work.

  • Hi Gillibean , I'm so sorry to find yourself here. The waiting game is torture . You say your MRI was done 2 weeks ago, are you able to chase them up. The results are often sent to the MDT meetings (multi disciplinary team) where they discuss your case , they then contact you with a plan. Once a plan has been put into place, things become so much easier.

I don't (sadly) have anything else to suggest , other than talk to some good friends and get some support . XXX Sending you loads of strength.
