Hi ,
Can anyone give me any advice please.
Ive had 2 rounds of chemo over last 2 years, started taking rubraca for 2 months. Platelets kept dropping so had to have dose lowered and breaks. Eventually had to come off them early September. Cancer has grown in all sites and a new finding too. I’m booked in for 9 rounds of taxol , a low dose every week . I should have started treatment last week , but platelets continues to drop . They was steadily rising , got them up to 86 but this week’s results back down to 60. Funny thing is tumour marker dropping from 176 down to 71 , none of this makes sense.
has anyone had the same experience?.
Hi , I can't answer your question but I thought if I replied it might bump up your post so someone can help you

Hi Deblorraine,
Sorry I’m not able to explain this for you - but looking for a positive, I’d say that the fact your tumour markers are dropping is a great sign as far as the cancer is concerned. The dropping platelet level, being a side effect of the treatment rather than a symptom of the cancer, may take some time to correct itself I guess - always very frustrating when these things get in our way.
Perhaps someone on the Macmillan team might be able to advise you if there are any things you can do / eat /drink /take to help build up your platelets faster if you give them a call?
All the best,
love Bxx
