My Squishmallow has been invaluable post hysterectomy. On discharge from hospital it sat between my tummy and the car seat belt on the drive home, providing desperately needed cushioning around my six surgical incisions. In bed it helped me sleep on my back for days, legs propped up. Also helped me get in and out of bed, which was extremely difficult. And now it’s still a comfort when I need to cough - my throat was quite irritated by the general anaesthetic tube. So glad I bought it, having learned from other women on Reddit that it could help. I got a Grumpy Care Bear one, 12 inches (30cm) in size.
I'm now 4 days post surgery, and recovering at home for the next 5-6 weeks. Will find out if I have cancer (ovarian?) in 6 weeks time or so. But fingers crossed it isn't. All my reproductive organs were removed apart from cervix I think. Plus two cysts, a biopsy and peritoneal washing. Particularly challenging surgery in my case, for a number of reasons. Robotic assisted keyhole surgery, that lasted 5.5 hours. But done now. So very glad to be home. And phenomenally grateful to the NHS medics who treated me, especially the gynaecological surgeon and the anaesthetist who had the hardest jobs.
