Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place but I kind of in limbo and don't know where my query belongs, also I'm new to here. I'm 53 and have been post meno since my 20's, last year I was having heavy bleeding so was referred to gynaecology for test, my ca125 was in range so no red flags there but a cyst was discovered on my left ovary, about 5cm with papillary projections a septa walls, I was put on watch and wait and told to come off HRT, after stopping HRT my bleeding stopped however my cyst grew so it was decided that I needed a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, (both ovaries and tubes removed), peritoneal washing and a biopsy of my lining whilst I was under which took place 4 weeks ago today. My worry is I still haven't had my results from the cyst biopsy, I was originally told I would hear in 2 weeks but its now going into my 5th week and the longer its going on for the more stressed I am getting, I am assuming that no news is good news but I want to know if I'm ok to have my HRT back as I think I'm turning into a bit of a crank without my oestrogen lol . I phoned my surgeons secretary last week and she told me the results were still being processed so I phoned again yesterday and this time I was told she couldn't see anything on the system for me and would look into it and get someone to call me back, I did get a call back to tell me the results actually arrived at 12.05 yesterday afternoon but nothing can be done yet and I'll hear back after the consultant has looked at them, I'm getting so impatient and stressed by all this. I just want to know what's what so I can put all this behind me, is it normal for them to make you wait so long for answers, what took the results so long to come back from pathology? Am I over thinking? (I can answer the last question myself, YES I am!!!)
Thanks
Hi TessDoLally and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I don't know what the normal wait time is for results to be given for this type of cancer but I do know how stressful waiting for results can be. You say that your results are back from pathology and have been told that the consultant needs to look at them. Once they have done that the results will be discussed at the weekly MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting, which is when the group of professionals who are involved in your care will decide what if any treatment is needed.
I hope you don't have too much longer to wait.
