Hi im having ovarian cyst removed which I have been told i s benign at the end if this month. I've just received a letter from ct department saying to book an examination which was requested  by gynecologist But call ct department on first day of my period. I'm worried I have no idea what this is for.  Does anyone know if this is before or after surgery. Or is it to locate cysts.  Has anyone else had this.

  • Hello Miss mole

I am sorry to hear that you have an ovarian cyst. It must have been worrying to receive a letter from CT that you were not expecting.

Have you called the number on the letter and asked what this is for? This would probably be my first step. If they were unable to confirm then you could email the consultant's secretary and ask for the information.

I had a CT before my surgery for womb cancer and it was routine to have one.  I would imagine they are just looking in more detail in preparation for the surgery. The only other examination that I had was a trans vaginal ultrasound. Is this something that has been mentioned to you?  Best thing though is to give them a call rather than worry.

    Good Luck

    Jane

  • Hi thank you for reply. I've got scans due also for melanoma checks so I wondering if it could be a mistake. I'm going to email gynecology on Monday see what's going on. It's so confusing when you have more than one health conditions. I've not had transvirgnal ultrasound I've had external ultrasounds. Sorry to hear  about your health condition

  • It must be confusing to have the different conditions. I only mentioned the transvaginal scans as I know they can check the area around ovaries and because they mentioned about your period- so thought maybe they are scheduling for after your period.

Emailing gynaecology is best bet. good luck
