I am new to this forum. In August of 2019 l was diagnosed with stage 3a germline ovarian tumor with Braca1 mutation carcinosarcoma . I had radical hysterectomy, 6 rounds of chemo and was on first line line maintenance drug lynparza for over 2 years.  My oncologist informed me that its up to me to continue treatment or stop it. I decided to discontinue. Now I have second thoughts. Please help me. If you would be in my situation, what would you decide. I am NED. Lynparza did not affect my quality of life. However I had heart attack 5 months ago.

  • Hi are you in the uk? Reason i ask, I finished the 2 year course of lymparza on 15th December 2022 , and I saw my oncologist on Thursday last week and he said the rules had changed re nhs funding and I could continue, but when he checked with pharmacy, they said because i was NED,  it wouldn’t be funded by nice!  Good luck x

  • Hi Janet

I am Canadian. I can get finding as long as l stay on lynparza. My oncologist was concerned about the long term effects of lynparza past 2 yrs.

  • Hi Joy- ah different system to the uk - yes long term effects are a worry  - I am not sure what I would do , all these oncologists seem to have different views on the long term effects weighing against the benefits - especially with your heart issue …. I wish you well in your decision

  • Hi Janet

Yes. I am concerned too. According to information provided by Mayo clinic  patient should stay on lynparza for up to two years.

If there is cancer patient can continue lynparza past two years.

I hope I made the right decision

    All the best
