Hello. New here.
I'm so fearful.
My 76 y/o Mum has stage 4 ovarian cancer. Also in liver we just learnt.
The plan for a while has been 3 rounds of chemo followed by an op if appropriate. None of this has yet happened due to recurrent drains from abdomen and lungs as an inpatient, plus infections, Covid...
My concern is that whilst these immediate symptoms are being treated very well, the chemo just keeps being pushed back and Mum is not able to make consultant appointments because she's in hospital.
I have been trying to arrange an update from the oncology team to find out if this is still the plan as hospital doctors mentioned considering how many drains she wants to do or being aware of the risks. I'm frightened that she may refuse future drains without having all the information about what her choices are. I am also scared of missing something/not doing enough or doing too much requesting information instead of just leaving it to the professionals to guide her.
My Dad needs emotional support with all of this and I'm so tired too.
No questions really. Just seeking support.
Hi Salop lass and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your mum has ovarian cancer which has spread to her liver, and it sounds like you're both in a very tough place at the moment.
I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. You might also like to post in the family and friends group, which I can see you've joined, as you'll then connect directly with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hello,
I have stage 3 ovarian cancer and had ascites. My doctors drained it only once before biopsy to get better view for biopsy. The Ascitic fluid was reabsorbed after first chemo. I had three chemos followed by radical debulking surgery. Now I have restarted on remaining chemos.
please discuss with your mother’s doctors.
