Morning everyone.

Following successful chemo and surgery for stage 3c my oncologist has advised avastin 3 weekly for a year. I had avastin as part of the chemo along with 2 others.

Has anyone had it as a prevention and how did it affect you.

  • Hello

Ahead of receiving responses here, on the ovarian cancer forum, you may find this thread helpful from the breast cancer forum:

    Wishing you all the best.

  • Hi,

You sound as if you have done really well, whoich is great. Although I have not had Avastin,I have heard of people that get quite long remissions having it,so hang in there if it is working. There are always side affects with all these drugs, but hopefully if you suffer some of them they will eventually improve.

I have fallopian tube cancer which is now stage 4 after 2 recurrences, which is treated the same as ovarian.

Wishing you luck  for a long remission. Georgette x

  • Thanks for response I have done really well on the chemo regime suffered very little side effects hair loss, fatigue etc of course but still managed to walk the dog and sociaise on weeks 2 and 3. Hope you find a regime that works for you.

  • Hi, I’m stage iv and had 18 cycles of avastin following my first chemo.  I did suffer from weakness and quite severe muscle stiffness, as well as plantar fasciitis- I didn’t immediately attribute this to the Avastin, but it all disappeared once I stopped taking it.
Hoping you don’t get too many side effects, there is some comfort in knowing what’s causing it!

  • Thanks for the response it's useful to know what might be going to happen. I know we are all different but for warned is for armed as they say. Suep
