Hi, I’ve just recently been diagnosed with JAk2 and ET. I am confused with the conflicting information I have received. In the booklet I was given on MPN’s it states bone pain as a common symptom however when spoke to my specialist they said bone pain is not associated with Et. Does anyone else suffer with bone pain in their lower back? If so what medication do you take for it?

  • I too am diagnosed with ET and have the JAK2 mutation.  I’ve been experiencing bone pain, specifically when I sit - in my sit bone on the right side.  Makes it hard to drive or be a passenger in any car- not sure if this is specifically related to ET.  Pain has been getting more steady over the last year.

  • Hi MrsD,

I too have been diagnosed with ET Jak2 and I have read that bone pain is a symptom of the condition and is regarded as one of the 10 symptoms to monitor monthly as in the MPN tracker.

But again, this seems to be dismissed by the health professionals.

My pain is a dull ache on my right side, sometimes feels inflamed inside my buttucks and radiates through my hip and right femur.

I've noticed the pain/ache has worsened and I will mention it again at my next telephone consultation.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • I too was diagnosed with  jak2Et back  in 2018 and have  suffered  with  bone pain  in my both legs  especially  my lower legs, however  like  you my consultants  say  it's nothing  to do with  diagnosis.  But I think  differently  as so many people on this forum  seem to have bone pain .

  • Following on from my last post a few days ago, I spoke to my consultant regarding the 'bone' pain. He said that ET was unlikely contributing to the pain I am experiencing because bone pain in MPN's are usually felt all over. Thinking
