I have a low grade non- Hodgekinsons lymphoma and had one course of chemotherapy and I went into remission. Just recently I discovered that it is returning and have been told to watch and wait, but within a couple of weeks of having a CT scan I have been getting some weird things happening. Under my left arm I developed a large swelling, but no lymph nodes could be detected. I also got a lump in my forearm about the size of a 10p piece where no lymph nodes reside, It is very hard and sore. Just today I got a swelling in my neck and I can feel a lump in the swelling about the size of a small grape.
However am not getting the usually side effects such as night sweats. Has anyone else had similar things happen?
many thanks
Hi Chemo556 and I see this is your first post so welcome.
You don’t say what type of low grade NHL you have but it’s not that unusual for a relapse following 1st line treatment.
Distinguishing between our normal bodies random ‘things’ it’s gets up to and what could be a symptom of your lymphoma can be hard...... as I always say, when on Active Monitoring (Watch and Wait) you keep your team informed about all the changes that come along and let them decide what is a problem or not.
I was diagnosed with a rather rare and hard to treat low grade skin NHL back in 1999 and the only symptom during the first 15 years was bad skin then in late 2013 it decided to become aggressive..... but I am still around doing great.
Thanks for that Mike, I basically try to ignore it and carry on as normal
Ken
Based on my long journey I would never advise ignoring anything ‘new and unexplained’
I think any medical team would prefer to hear about stuff and decide that it’s not a problem rather then play catch up.
As I said I did not have any classic symptoms that would have pointed to NHL apart from my rash that my switched on Dermatologist pick out that I had a rare skin NHL...... but he continually told me to keep vigilant as my condition could change very quickly and become life threatening..... it did just that in the matter of months.
Keep well and keep safe.
