I have been diagnosed with SSL. Is this the right group for me. The website keeps directing me here. I have been told that we need to watch and wait for my illness. Don't really know what this means. I have so many hot flushes it consumes my day sometimes. I have also been diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis this year. What a shocking time to have 2 nasty illnesses. My mind is all over the place.

  • Hi  and welcome.

With over 60 types of Lymphoma we don’t have a group for every type put on the whole blood cancer is blood cancer so yes stick around and let’s see if we can help.

It does take time to get your head round how this type of cancer works.

SLL or small lymphocytic lymphoma is a slow growing blood cancer so when watch and wait is suggested for you, it means it is in your best interests to keep an eye on your lymphoma and to save other treatments for when they are needed.

There is lots of evidence that people do just as well in the long term if they are actively monitored and have other treatments kept until they are really needed.

I had a rare CTCL (Skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) and I was basically on W&W for 14 years before we had to use string treatments.

This is a link to some information about SLL on the Lymphoma Action site.

You may also want to check out the Lymphoma Action site for their Buddy System as they may be able to match you up with a Buddy who has SLL.
