Liver NET

Hi everyone,

Had scan 3 years ago pre heart operation that revealed unspecified ‘liver lesion’.

Lesion has recently been identified as probable NET

Various consultations and scans later my regional MDT has recommended ablation procedure

Im waiting for confirmation of timing of procedure but get the impression that surgery rather than ablation has not been ruled out as latest scans are not definitive enough for radiologist to be confident that 100% of tumour has been identified and can be removed. There has been no suggestion that cancer is secondary and appears to be specific to liver segment

I know that there are hospitals that have Centre of Excellence rating for NETs but I’m currently being treated at my regional NHS hospital which is no a NET COE.

Does anyone have any views or have had experience of Southampton Hospital which is my nearest COE?

thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have any experience with Southampton Hospital but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. I put 'Southampton' into the group search bar and found these previous posts which mention it for you to have a look through.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thanks for the info

I’m asking my consultant to refer me to NET specialist team at UHS but I’m also keen to have private consultation with NET specialist at same time as NHS referral

Don’t know how best to arrange that so any advice welcomed

    regards

  • When I saw a consultant privetely for a different type of cancer I just phoned my local private hospital to arrange it.
