Hello everyone. Is it me or is anyone else finding all the different guidance very confusion?

Does all the lockdown finish in august?

Some of my friends who has never been  told to isolate suddenly received a letter to say stay indoors.

Keep safe everyone.

  • Hi Jacguile,

It’s good to hear from you, I hope you are doing ok?

I agree, it is all very confusing, it very much depends which nation you are in? If in England, the rules are relaxed from 6th July where we no longer need to shield within the house and can meet up with up to 6 people outside our homes (but maintaining social distancing). And then from 1 August, shielding is “paused” - it may come back in the future but from that point it is not advised to follow the guidance and instead follow the guidance for the more generally vulnerable (which is following social distancing).

It is very tricky and confusing. My feeling is we’re getting to a stage now where each individual will have to make judgments about what they feel comfortable with doing. For me, I will be venturing out and doing more things but always being mindful of potential risks.

    Wishing you all the best

    Hi Greg

I think I will be sensible and keep my distance from people, if possible, going for a walk and keep out of supermarkets for a little while longer.

I start new treatment nest Monday (not looking forward to it). I have been in remission for 15 months but sadly its come back. Myeloma is something I have to live with as do many other people. I will be having Lenalidomide and Dexamethasone and not sure of the side effects?!

Thank you for replying to my email. Its good to talk to someone.

    I live in England.

    All the best

    Jacqueline

  • Hi Jacqueline,

I am so sorry to read that you have come back out of remission. Sadly the relapsing-remitting nature of myeloma is something we have to get used to with this disease. I am really hoping that the treatment goes well. I have never had lenalidomide so can’t help on that one unfortunately, but I was fine on dexamethasone - some difficulty sleeping and altered moods, but generally speaking it was ok. I am really hoping that the treatment does the trick in putting you back into a long-lasting remission and then hopefully you will be able to enjoy a bit more freedom in the months to come when hopefully we can properly get on top of the virus. But I think you are right to take things very slowly, especially when you will be starting to go back onto treatment.

I am hoping that it all goes really well Jacqueline and please keep us updated as to how you are getting on.
