Hello I had a 13mm mole removed Friday. I was told by surgeon results would be 6-8 weeks. He was unsure if mole was cancerous or not. I’m just worried as I have had the mole for around 4 years and it had significantly grown over the last year.

  • Hi  and welcome to our corner of the online community.

Waiting for the biopsy results can be a very worrying time and I found the best way of dealing with it was to try and carry on as normal, as much as possible, but to also find time to do things I enjoyed so that I didn't have too much time to think about the 'what ifs'.

Do come back and let us know your results and, if you have any questions in the meantime or just want to have a rant, do post again.

  • Hi  I am sorry to hear that you are going through this anxiety, well done for recognising the changes to your mole and going to get it checked.

Waiting for results is difficult I have found that getting out walking or doing exercise really helps me to be more present in the moment and less in my own thoughts. If you can plan some nice things to do and look forward to.

Earphones with Spotify and listening podcasts music and guided meditations also helps me at nighttime. I know this doesn't help relieve the situation but hopefully these little things can help you find some distraction alongside the support of your friends and family.

    Take care x

  • Hi latchbrook. Thank you for your reply and advice.
I was called back to the consultant for results today. It turned out to be melanoma in situ. I was very fortunate to be able to have the WLE today.
Thankfully no further treatment is needed.

  • Hi GBIRD. Thank you for your reply and advice. It was very helpful. I’ve had a WLE today and require no further treatment.

  • That's brilliant news
