  • Hi Anne,

I’m having my 4th round of immunotherapy for stage 4 melanoma in my small intestine next week and to be honest it’s been ok. I have been lucky and only had one side effect so far. I got an overactive thyroid which after 6 weeks of one medication has now made it under active so I have different tablets each morning but it is manageable. I get a bit tired after the therapy session but as treatments go it’s pretty straightforward.

I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best with your treatment x

  • Thank you Blush  put  my mind at rest  a bit  x

  • Hi Anne - I had a Stage 2b melanoma removed from my upper arm, and I had my first immunotherapy treatment (Pembrolizumab/Keytruda) this morning.  No side effects as yet, but it is early days I know.

I took a month to decide whether I wanted to go ahead with it - it is such a personal decision. Hearing the potential side effects made me think about it very carefully!

Although I had initially decided not to go ahead with it (60:40 against), when I told my consultant oncologist, she reminded me of the 1 in 5 chance  of the cancer returning in my organs, and what that could mean. I changed my mind and decided the potential side effects weren't as bad as having cancer return.

I'll be updating my profile regularly with my experience, so feel free to message me.

  • Wow  you are brave   my  oncologist  is  phoning me  to  discuss  targeted  I  think   through a  needle   but  I  have inflammatory arthritis aswell  so  not  quite  sure how I  stand as my immune system is  dodgy.

Yes I  will be interested to  see how you get on
