Hi Anne,

I’m having my 4th round of immunotherapy for stage 4 melanoma in my small intestine next week and to be honest it’s been ok. I have been lucky and only had one side effect so far. I got an overactive thyroid which after 6 weeks of one medication has now made it under active so I have different tablets each morning but it is manageable. I get a bit tired after the therapy session but as treatments go it’s pretty straightforward.

Hi Anne - I had a Stage 2b melanoma removed from my upper arm, and I had my first immunotherapy treatment (Pembrolizumab/Keytruda) this morning.  No side effects as yet, but it is early days I know.

I took a month to decide whether I wanted to go ahead with it - it is such a personal decision. Hearing the potential side effects made me think about it very carefully!

Although I had initially decided not to go ahead with it (60:40 against), when I told my consultant oncologist, she reminded me of the 1 in 5 chance  of the cancer returning in my organs, and what that could mean. I changed my mind and decided the potential side effects weren't as bad as having cancer return.

Wow  you are brave   my  oncologist  is  phoning me  to  discuss  targeted  I  think   through a  needle   but  I  have inflammatory arthritis aswell  so  not  quite  sure how I  stand as my immune system is  dodgy.
