Hi I am 46 and was told in October that I had a mole removed which was melanoma, I have had surgery to remove the mole and the cancer and 2 lymph nodes and now waiting to see if I need immunotherapy, but my concern is I am on warfarin as well. Has anyone got any advice please .

  • Hi  and welcome to our little corner of the online community,

I've had melanoma, but not immunotherapy, and noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I've done a search in the group looking for previous posts which mention warfarin but drew a blank I'm afraid. Of course this doesn't mean that nobody here is on, or has been on warfarin, they might just not have posted about it.

As long as your consultant is aware of any drugs you are taking they will make sure that it's safe to be on both if you find you do need to have immunotherapy.

    Wishing you all the best

  • From my own experience taking a blood thinner / anti-coagulant is an advantage not a negative. However my advice would be to seek medical advice on switching to Apixaban. I note that in 2012 at the start of my treatment I injected myself with Clexane for 18 months which was the benchmark treatment at the time but it was a long time ago.
