Hi everyone. I’ve been reading through your experiences and want to be included so I can help support my Mum. She’s not really tech savvy and has asked me to do this. Her original melanoma on her lower left leg was dealt with by surgery and radiotherapy almost 3 years. Now it’s back with a vengeance at stage 3 and the tumours multiplied to 45 recently, though they’ve stopped multiplying now having had 2 lots of injections. Each one has been injected though some were grouped resulting in 23 and then 21 injections. She’s finding this quite horrific and she wonders how others have coped. She has had flu like symptoms afterwards though these subside in 48 hours. Otherwise she’s a very sprightly and healthy 79 year old. Many thanks for reading. Debbie x
Hi DebbieCh and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I was diagnosed with melanoma 9 years ago but don't have any experience with T-VEC treatment. I've had a look through the group and can see that the most recent people who've posted about this treatment are Pebble Beach and Jasonjgg123 four months ago. I've tagged them into my reply to you and hopefully they'll pop on and share their experience with you.
It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi, I originally had Melanoma on my thigh which progressed to my groin lymph nodes, I had all my groin lymph nodes removed in 2022, I had 3 other tumours removed in 2023 I was also receiving immunotherapy at the tine, in 2024 I had tumours appear on my lower leg and had 2 removed but another 2 appeared, I then started T Vec, after starting my tumours multiplied, I had around 17 but after a few months this started to decrease and reduced dramatically to 5 very small tumours, I think it was really starting to work, unfortunately my Melanoma reappeared in my Pelvis lymph nodes in August and they are unable to take these out as it's metastasized too many times, I'm now on immunotherapy again.
I think T Vec does really work if it is isolated to that one area, I didn't have many side effects, slight flu symptoms but nothing too bad, they were injecting me with the maximum 4ml.
I hope this helps.
Jason
Thanks Jason. That’s really helpful. My Mum can’t have any further surgery on this area either and her tumours are growing on the skin graft, which is unusual. For her it’s very painful having over 20 injections in the small area where there’s 45 tumours. Did you find it painful please? I’m not sure of her dosage as you mention 4ml, but I’m pleased you felt it was a positive treatment for you and that you didn’t have too many side affects. Thanks again, Debbie
Thank you. That’s really helpful and I will update my profile when I can. All the best and I hope your melanoma experience is very soon Debbie
I'm pleased to say that all my treatment for melanoma has finished.
