Hi Everyone,
I joined the group has had a large mole removed from my abdomen on Wednesday. Had four deep stitches and a few surface stitches obviously it’s been sent for testing for melanoma.
Obviously, it’s very scary. I’ve got to wait four weeks for results. Is anyone else in my position that could chat with offer some support and advice or anyone else that has been through this and has got any great advice to stop overthinking things?
many thanks
Hello, I’m in the same position as you. I’m in Belfast, had mole removed in September, suspected melanoma. Going on the 23rd for results. I don’t really have any advice just that I know how anxious it is waiting for results. I hope you’re ok
Hi
Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear you’re awaiting results too!! Was just wondering tho, how come you’ve had to wait so long?
Aw it’s just been a nightmare, apparently the labs in my trust are under investigation so everything is very slow, but hopefully next week I’ll know either way.
how are you feeling?
Ah I’m sorry to hear that, but fingers crossed for next week
i’m not feeling too bad, feel a bit sore from stitches as was on my abdomen but back to the nurse tomorrow so she can check and redress them! The only thing I do find now is the slightest ache anywhere in my body and I can’t stop thinking it’s spread without me knowing… How do you cope and how are you feeling?
I think that’s normal, I’ve gone from having an ache and convincing myself it has spread to holding out hope that I could go next week and find out it’s not melanoma, just just been a scare. I think the unknown and waiting is definitely the worst but
Yes it’s definitely the unknown that’s scary!!
I wish you all the best for your results, please let me know how you get in xx
I hope you get good results too and try not too stress too much, especially over Christmas xx
Good morning, for a bit of perspective I had a mole checked in June and finally had diagnosis after a WLE biopsy took 4 weeks.
following the real biopsy results the care from the Macmillan team was great however one thing stuck in my head and was already using this help - Journalling..Writing down your thoughts and feelings can massively help. I still read mine back at times when i want a refresh of how far I have come.
Find an escape and really it is hard but try not to overthink it too
Hi Pebbles,
Happy New Year!

Thank you for your message and advice.
Sorry to hear your diagnosis but hoping you’re coping as well as can be expected and that it’s all sorted for you asap x
