Hi everyone, I have just joined tonight. I have stage 2 melanoma and I had my WLE and SLNB back at the end of October. I get my results from the biopsy tomorrow and I just feel so nervous. My surgeon had said to me that he thinks it will more than likely be negative but my head is running a million miles an hour thinking of the what ifs.
I’ve just turned 22 and I don’t have family around me (abusive parents) I have my boyfriend and his family but feel such a burden to them talking about it all the time. I suppose the point in this post is just to hear from some people who have been through this before me and get some advice. Thank you.
So sorry you are having to go through this at such a young age and without the support of your own family. You don’t have long to wait now for your results and hopefully it will be good news tomorrow. But if it’s not there are plenty of people here who can offer you advice and help. Let us know how you get on.
My doctor gave me the all clear thankfully!! He said he’ll keep an eye on me for the next year and then I’ll be under the care of my dermatologist for the next 5ish years just so they can keep a wee eye on me but for now everything is okay and I don’t have to worry!
that is amazing news! ️ so pleased for you. What was your melanoma features? I’m currently awaiting results and my mind is going into overdrive! Xx
So mine was about the size of a pencil eraser and it was on my back, it was light brown but it changed to go literally black. I’m not sure how long that took as I didn’t always look at my back before. There was also some of it that was more raised than the other half.
I know it’s so difficult waiting for the news fingers crossed it’s good news for you xx
Thank you. It’s reassuring to read positive stories. What was the Breslow thickness of yours? Was it ulcerated or not? X
I’m so sorry I didn’t ask they questions, when I found out I was really quite upset as I was on my own so I didn’t really ask questions and just took it for what it was
Sorry you're dealing with this - waiting for results is the absolute worst!
My melanoma on the back of my right calf was a 1.6 thickness, stage 1b, no ulceration. I had a WLE & SLNB biopsy and got the all clear 3 weeks later. That was 7 years ago and I haven't had a recurrence so far.
I have everything crossed for you for a good result x
Don't forget to breathe...
Ohh thank you for this. I’m so pleased for you. Very similar to mine so gives me hope! I had the procedure last week (after my initial mole was removed 12 weeks ago!) and have been told the wait for results is 8 weeks so it’s been such a long process. The waiting is making me think of every possible outcome! Xx
Aw it’s okay. im so glad you can move on from this and enjoy a stress free Christmas ️
