Afternoon all

sorry didn’t know how to update previous post.

so 2 weeks after having my suspicion mole removed, I’ve just had a message to attend a follow up appointment (they said 6-8 weeks originally)  Now I’m panicking!

Obviously minds gone into overdrive but should I be worried?

TIA

julie xx

  • Hi Julie/

It'll hopefully give you some peace of mind if I tell you that whether you have melanoma or not doesn't depend on how quickly your results are back. You are just lucky that your pathology lab was able to do them quickly. I had to wait 6 weeks for my results and it was still melanoma, so people who say that no news is good news are, sadly, wrong.

Hopefully yours will turn out to be just an unusual mole but you'll get plenty of support if it is a melanoma.

    xx

  • Hi Julie,

I had a suspicious lesion removed 30/08/2025 and my follow up has been booked for 14/10/2025 which is 6 weeks away!

When is your follow up appointment?

  • unfortunately it was Melanoma, caught early, so hopefully only got to have as wide local excision and I’ll be done. Got to wait for a date to have it done but they did say it’ll be about 8 weeks xx

  • Sorry to hear that it was a melanoma but glad that it's been caught early. Mine was also reasonably early so I just had a wide local excision (WLE) and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB).
