Evening All

Newby to possible skin cancer but not cancer, had breast cancer 7 years ago.

Had a mole, just below my knee, removed on Monday. I was I could take the dressing off today and wash it, which I have done but because of where it was, every time I bend my knee it weeps a bit. Would it be ok to put a dressing on for a few more days?

Also I was told the results would take 6-8 weeks. Is this about right?

  • Hi Julie/ and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have any experience with the wound site weeping after removing the dressing so it would probably be best to contact your hospital team or local GP surgery for advice.

As for how long biopsy results take to come back, I'd say that 6-8 weeks is a realistic timescale.

Let us know how you get on.

  • Personally, if it was weeping, then I’d keep it covered. If stuff can get out, then stuff can get in and you do not want to get an infection at the site. It might be worth getting it checked out, especially if the weeping persists, smells or your leg becomes sore.

  • Thanks for getting back to me guys Blush I’m gonna keep it covered for a few more days. I think it’s because of the position it’s in.

  • yes I’m gonna keep it covered a few more days. It looks ok, it’s just watery blood that’s weeping, no smell or pus up to now. Thanks for getting back to me Blush
