I’m awaiting a Sentinel Node Biopsy, in the meantime I want to travel to Europe, can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company who will offer good cover?

  • Hi Ruth

I have used insurancewith.com for three holidays since I got diagnosed a year ago. The premiums are obviously higher with a cancer or potential cancer diagnosis but I’ve found the costs reasonable in the circumstances eg I paid about £35 for a five day trip to Paris, £65 for two weeks in New Zealand and £80 for a week in Italy (the latter after I had to declare extra side effects from my treatment). I’ve had to speak to them a couple of times to clarify things or make additional declarations and I’ve found the staff very helpful each time.

All the best with your SNLB and holiday

  • Thanks so much Clare, that’s a real help!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved so please pop over to the travel insurance group for cancer patients to see the recommendations from others who have been successful.

Once you've joined, have a look through the threads there called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' and Recommended travel insurance 2023-24', which you'll find on the first page. They are full of recommendations from other cancer patients who have got travel insurance.

Personally I've had cover with payingtoomuch.com and goodtogoinsurance.com, although on neither occasion was I waiting to have a biopsy.

Do let us know how you get on
